Flood Water’s training program was created by Shadow Soldier in 2008 in an effort to create stronger skaters for her WFTDA travel team. By 2009 she was awarded MVP by her league based partly on the skill level and number of graduates completing her program.
Shadow Soldier began her derby career in 2006 and rounded out her flat track training in 2008 with the Texas Rollergirls (the women who began the roller derby revival). Since then she has been competing at a WFTDA level while training beginning skaters.
As a traveling consultant for Cruz Skateshop, Shadow is an expert at fitting skaters with the appropriate roller derby supplies. She has been teaching WFTDA rules and introducing segments of her comprehensive 8-week training program to leagues all over California for nearly 7 years.
FWRD, servicing the Greater Sacramento area (Roseville, Rocklin, Citrus Heights, Folsom and Auburn), is honored to be home to Shadow Soldier and her training program, where all 8 weeks are taught in succession to new skaters. Her program breaks down each of the elements of derby skating from stops and turns to hitting and blocking. With detailed instructions, clear expectations and honest feedback, Shadow’s Fresh Meat/Fast Track program is the best beginners program around.
