Roller derby is among the world’s fastest growing sports. Once on par with the theatrics of professional wrestling, it has evolved to become a fast-paced, full-contact team sport that requires athleticism and strategy.
Since 2012, Flood Water Roller Derby (FWRD) has offered a place for people from Sacramento and surrounding communities to come and learn to skate and play the sport competitively. Reflecting the highly diverse community of skaters, volunteers, and fans who are drawn to the sport, FWRD skaters and volunteers come from all walks of life. FWRD strives to create a space where folks of all shapes and sizes, can come into their strengths as athletes and grow competitively as a team.
While each skater pays monthly dues to participate, we need help to remain a competitive league and continue to bring this wonderful sport to our community. There are a lot of costs that go into keeping a roller derby team active.
- Bout rental space + event costs.
- Practice space 2-3x a week
- Team jersey replenishment/refresh, safety gear, medical supplies and track materials
- Travel to national and international tournaments
- Registration fees for tournaments and nationals.
- WFTDA membership fee.
- Marketing costs
Depending on practice space and preferred bout/event space these costs could increase drastically.

Not sure if a sponsorship option is right for you? There are many ways your support is welcome! Please feel free to reach us about:
- Contributing goods and services – We host several bouts a year and welcome items that may be raffled while giving special acknowledgement to contributors.
- One Time Monetary Donations – Any amount is welcome and accepted at the following PayPal link below. We would be happy to provide a receipt for tax filing purposes – please email floodwaterrollerderby@gmail.com with the subject line, “Request for Donation Receipt.”

Other Package Options
Sponsor a Skater – $250 per season
You can choose the skater you wish to sponsor, sponsor a new skater, or have your skater chosen by random draw. Once you have completed payment and the sponsorship agreement form, we will be in touch to develop a customized social media plan with you and your sponsored skater! For the season, you will receive:
- One customized social media promotion developed in collaboration with your sponsored skater and the FWRD Marketing Director
- Your logo and link on our website sponsor page, including, at you and the skater’s option, a photo of your skater in action and a message from the skater
- The program for any home game in which they are playing branded with your logo
- Two home game tickets so you can watch them in action (if they have reached minimum skill level for competitive play)
- Your sponsored skater will have a customized jersey with your logo for scrimmages and home games. You may also provide your own sticker for their helmet.
- If sponsoring a new skater, $200 of your contribution will be used to help them purchase critical gear to embark on their derby journey, such as protective pads, helmet, and skates. The remainder will be used to help cover costs associated with the promotion.
Sponsor a Season Home Game – $500
- Name and logo will appear on all social media posts for the bout
- Your logo and link on our website sponsor page, including an after-bout photo of the teams and a thank you message
- Tabling and half-time appearance* rights
- Scoreboard Ad
- Choice of penalty box or jam line sponsor mentions
- Customizable program advertisement (Full page)
- Banner placement at the game venue
- Sponsored half time raffle
- Four home game tickets
- Customized attire worn by skaters (+ up to $500 depending on attire)

The Fish Tank

Bout Shout-Out – $50 per game
- Our announcers will plug your business during a home game. You can provide a brief statement or we’ll ad lib for you.
Banner Ad at a Home Game – $50 per game
- Banner will be hung in a highly visible area of the venue. Banner is provided by the sponsor with grommets in all four corners.
Scoreboard Ad – $100 per game
- We will feature your ad on the scoreboard projected for the home game and online streaming audiences. Other than the skaters, the scoreboard is often the most watched part of the game!
Penalty Box Sponsor – $100 per game
- Our announcers will mention your business each time the Penalty Box is mentioned. (ex. “Blue #10 is going to the [your company name] penalty box!” There can be around 30 penalties in a game.)
Jam Line Sponsor – $100 per game
- Our announcers will mention your business each time the Jam Line is mentioned.
Logo and Link on FWRD Website – $200 for the year
- We’ll put your logo and link in our season sponsor list at floodwaterrollerderby.org.
Program Ad – Prices varies by size
- Full page (5.5″ x 8.5) $70
- Half page (5.125″ x 4″) $50
- Quarter page (vertical) (2.5″ x 4″) $30
